Maria João Oliveira

Maria João Oliveira is an Assistant Researcher at the Institute of Sociology of the University of Porto (IS-UP), where she currently coordinates the «Social Recompositions and Territories» research subgroup and also a member of the coordinating team of the «Northwest Social Observatory» project. She holds a First Degree (2009) and a PhD (2014) in Sociology - specialising in inequalities, culture and territories - from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto (FLUP). Her professional career has been characterised by scientific work in the fields of migration and religions; and by scientific work strongly linked to practice in social development, with a special focus on vulnerable populations and/or those at risk of social exclusion. She also has professional experience in science management, monitoring and evaluation (M&E).
