
Editorial Policy
The Institute of Sociology of the University of Porto (IS-UP) carries out an editorial activity aimed at publishing texts of a sociological nature, also calling on contributions from other disciplinary areas of the social sciences, from a multi- and interdisciplinary perspective.
IS-UP's editions are based on scientific quality, theoretical and methodological diversity, sustained confrontation of scientific perspectives and the scientific and social relevance of knowledge. IS-UP intends to publish texts on Portuguese society and on processes with regional and local significance and remains open to other editorial proposals that contribute to the production and dissemination of innovative scientific knowledge.
IS-UP's editorial instruments include:
- Sociologia: Revista da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto - scientific journal;
- Cadernos IS-UP – scientific journal with a knowledge transfer character, open to the publication of works by academics, professionals and social agents from the most varied sectors of society;
- Livros IS-UP - collection of monographs;
- Working Papers IS-UP – serialized publication aimed at disseminating scientific or technical articles (preliminary).
PEER REVIEW
All texts published by IS-UP's editorial instruments are peer-reviewed in a blind review process, in accordance with the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity Guidelines – ALLEA, 2017.
OPEN ACCESS POLICY
All IS-UP editorial tools are published in electronic format and in Open Access on the IS-UP website, in the FLUP Digital Library and, in the case of journals, on the Digithéke platform (open access platform of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto).
PUBLICATION FEES
IS-UP does not charge authors who publish in its various editorial instruments any fees for the submission, processing and publication of their manuscripts.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The assignment of unique identification codes (ISBN, ISSN, DOI) is ensured and assigned according to the specific nature of each publishing instrument.
Instructions for authors and information regarding the periodicity of publications and the assessment and decision process are defined differently by each publishing instrument and should be consulted on their respective web pages.
