Margarida Vaz is a PhD student in Sociology at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto, where she is developing a project on hip-hop in the Azores. She holds a Master's degree in Anthropology - Visual Cultures from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2021), a Postgraduate degree in Community Development from ISCTE-IUL (2023), and a Bachelor's degree in Arts and Humanities from the Faculty of Letters at the University of Lisbon (2018), with a major in History and a minor in Comparative Arts and Cultures. She worked as a socio-educational technician at the community development association Associação Santa Teresa - Dignidade e Desenvolvimentos, in the Fonsecas e Calçada neighborhood of Lisbon, and has also worked as a producer at the Todos Festival, a teacher of Curricular Enrichment Activities in the field of Arts, and a tour guide in Lisbon. She participated in the Todas as Artes Todos os Nomes International Meeting in 2025, as well as in the VIII Congress of the Portuguese Anthropology Association (2022) and in Diálogos - 3rd Anthropology Meeting organized by the ISCTE/IUL Anthropology Doctoral Network in 2019. She has taken several short courses in the field of Anthropology and visual cultures, also participating in the XIV Spring Meetings - Anthropology and Landscape in Picote, Miranda do Douro, in 2019. She received a grant from the APA - Portuguese Association of Anthropology to support her Master's fieldwork in the 2019/2020 academic year and is currently an FCT scholarship holder.
