Abstract: The NORTE IA+ project aligns with the Northern Region’s Regional Strategy for Smart Specialization and falls under the priority area “Technologies, Government, Economy, and Society,” which promotes innovation and competitiveness based on the region’s existing characteristics and assets. The main objective of the NORTE IA+ project is to contribute to the development of a more socially inclusive and competitive North. To this end, the project seeks to promote the conscious, informed, responsible, and ethical use of generative AI, particularly in the fields of education, industry, and healthcare, leading to a more efficient, effective, safe, ethical, and responsible use of generative AI. In the social sphere, Norte IA+ aims to improve citizens’ quality of life by promoting equitable access to healthcare, education, and employment. In the industrial sector, Norte IA+ seeks to foster the competitiveness of regional companies through smart specialization.
Norte IA+ will develop and implement a series of practical measures, researching and analyzing cases of responsible use of language models through the use of machine translation in the three sectors, exploring hybrid approaches. The first will be the mapping and systematization of knowledge, practices, and processes related to generative AI. The second involves analyzing needs in industry, healthcare, and education. Third, the project will focus on the design and implementation of linguistic and translation solutions and operationalize model refinement techniques for specific domains.
This phase is followed by the design and implementation of a training program for stakeholders in the three areas, service providers (specifically translators), and end users. This training will be implemented using a MOOC format. Finally, guidelines for the ethical, responsible, and transparent use of generative AI in the three areas will be produced, validated by experts and stakeholders, to improve knowledge, practices, and processes regarding generative AI
