About
This project aims to understand and problematise the women’s participation in development processes in Portugal, relating their intervention in local communities to the social impact of that intervention.
This project is based on an action-research methodology and triangulates the production of knowledge with action in the field and training, involving actors linked to the development sphere in Portugal.
It is based on a dialectical logic in which the voices of women and other development actors are part of the overall research design.
Research begins with focus groups and a review of the relevant literature ad a basis for preparing a training action. This will lead to an analysis which will contribute to the knowledge of the field and will form the basis for the design of the research-action network which will be set up in order to respond to the needs identified throughout the research. In this sense, the result of the project will be the creation of a working network betwen Lusófona University and professionals involved in implementing public policies for development. In addition to its clear sustainability, the project is of scientific and social relevance in a national context where research and intervention projects and initiatives in the field of development and with an intersectional gender approach are still scarce.
