Abstract: This doctoral project aims to analyze the social and institutional dynamics that shape the implementation of artistic practices in hospital contexts in Portugal, focusing on organizational culture, the role of pedagogical relationships and their interactions, and the policies guiding these initiatives. The analysis will be conducted at three levels: macro, exploring public cultural policies and government programs that structure the relationship between art and health; meso, examining the organizational culture of institutions; and micro, focusing on the experiences of hospitalized children, their families, and the professionals involved. To achieve this, a qualitative methodology is proposed, including participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and participatory methods. The case studies will be conducted at the Centro Materno-Infantil do Norte and the Portuguese Institute of Oncology of Porto. The aim is to contribute to the debate on the integration of the arts into hospital care, offering recommendations to strengthen the relationship between health and culture.

Target audience: Academic community and general population, specifically the health services professionals and users.
