The Institute of Sociology is promoting another Research Conference, which will take place on 10 and 11 October 2024 at FLUP's Noble Amphitheatre, jointly organised by the Executive Committee and the Research Subgroups. The Conference is a privileged moment for sharing and discussion among the members of this research unit. The programme includes thematic panels on various topics, such as employment and professions; territories, climate and environment; cultural practices; exclusions and violence; art, education and society(ies); religion and spirituality.
The opening session will feature Professor Hartmut Rosa, who will give a lecture entitled ‘Acceleration, Alienation and Resonance: Towards a New Theory of Modernity’. Hartmut Rosa is Professor of Sociology and Social Theory at the Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena, Germany, and Director of the Max Weber Centre for Advanced Cultural and Social Studies at the University of Erfurt.
