On March 22, at 3 p.m., in room G 402, the book "Beyond the Canon: to expand and diversify the social sciences" is presented, by Celso Castro.
This book is not against the traditional canon of the social sciences and their "founding fathers," almost all men, European or North American and white. It seeks, however, to go further, including 16 authors, the vast majority unpublished in Brazil and translated here for the first time into the Portuguese. We thus have new perspectives for the understanding of social reality and the social sciences become more diverse, renewed and comprehensive.
Celso Castro is Director of the School of Social Sciences (FGV CPDOC) and the School of International Relations (FGV RI) of the Getulio Vargas Foundation.
