‘Qualitative approaches and narratives of ageing’
With Rute Lemos, PhD in Sociology from FLUP. She is a researcher at FLUP in the European LeTs-Care project and an integrated researcher at IS-UP.
This session explores the contribution of qualitative methodologies to understanding ageing in contemporary societies, with a focus on the interview technique. Based on a PhD project, we will reflect on the preparation of interviews, the methodological and ethical challenges involved and the particularities of approaching elderly populations on sensitive topics such as abuse. Strategies for analysing qualitative data using Nvivo will also be discussed, highlighting the potential of this software for organising and interpreting narratives. We look forward to seeing you!
