On June 7, the IS-UP Center of the Museu da Pessoa will launch its fourth exhibition “Lives of resistance and clandestinity in Porto”, which portrays the life stories of 8 people who lived underground during the period of fascism.
In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of April 25, the IS-UP Center of the Museu da Pessoa gives voice to stories of courage and struggle for democracy, highlighting the commitment of these individuals to political resistance, reading their family and educational backgrounds and personal experiences related to the historical events of the time. Each story, marked by moments of courage, sacrifice and hope, reveals not only the challenges faced during the underground, but also the resilience and struggle of many others who contributed to building a free and democratic country.
The inauguration will take place at 5pm and will also include a gathering of anti-fascist resistance fighters and IS-UP researchers, so we invite everyone interested to take part in a collective reflection on the various narratives of courage and struggle for democracy.
The narratives will also be made available on the online platform of the Museu da Pessoa and on IS-UP's Youtube, providing a lasting record accessible to future generations, offering a unique and inspiring understanding of the past, while leaving fundamental clues for the present and future of our country, and will be available for future consultation at the time of the inauguration.
The exhibition will be on display from June 7 to August 30 at Casa dos Livros (Rua do Campo Alegre, 1055 - 4150-181 Porto), from Monday to Friday, between 14:30 and 17:30.
