STRATEGIC PROGRAMME 2025-2029
Keeping focused on fundamental research and on providing socially relevant services, for the period 2025-2029, IS-UP aims to consolidate the dynamics of analysis and monitoring of the social recompositions of the Northwest of Portugal, particularly in line with the Sustainable Development Goals nos. 4, 5, 8, 10, 11, 12 and 17 of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, and with the perspective of Public Sociology, particularly committed to broadening the audience of science and to the enlightened debate on major public policy issues.
In particular, the IS-UP has set 10 strategic objectives for 2025-2029:
1) Selectively strengthen the research team.
2) Lead projects with an international scope.
3) Create the Northwest Social Observatory.
4) Create the Observatory of Art and Culture in Universities.
5) Support scientific employment and career development.
6) Strengthen the ongoing plan for the wide dissemination of sociological knowledge.
7) Support the openness, sharing and reuse of research data.
8) Host and train young researchers, in collaboration with the Doctoral programme in Sociology of FLUP.
9) Reinforce the international dissemination of research results.
10) Strengthen the collective and horizontal working culture that unites IS-UP members.
