Ana Cláudia Alves da Silva
Ana Alves da Silva holds a PhD in Sociology – Labour Relations, Social Inequalities and Trade Unionism from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra. Her doctoral thesis, Capital in spe and its laborious binds: The class condition of small business owners in Portugal, examined the class position and relations of small business owners in Portugal. She is currently a member of the Multidisciplinary Team for the Evaluation and Impact Analysis of Public Policies at PLANAPP – Centre for Planning and Evaluation of Public Policies. Previously, she worked as a researcher at CoLABOR – Collaborative Laboratory for Labour, Employment and Social Protection. Ana has published journal articles and book chapters, co-organised scientific events, and participated in a range of research projects, including European-funded initiatives. Her research focuses on work and employment, its forms of organisation and provision, and its central role in shaping social structures and experience. Her approach combines the sociology of work and social classes with perspectives from political and institutional economy, political, juridical sciences, history and philosophy. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Portuguese Association for Political Economy.
