Sara Moreira
An interdisciplinary researcher working at the intersection of social innovation, sustainable food systems, technology and communication, with a particular interest in the solidarity economy, agroecology and the commons.
PhD in Information and Knowledge Society (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, 2025) and a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Engineering and Computing (FEUP, 2006/2009).
Her doctoral thesis, on the Communicative Ecologies of ‘Other Economies’, was recognised as the best academic work in the doctoral programme in the year it was defended.
Following her PhD, during which she was hosted by the Institute of Sociology at the University of Porto (IS-UP) and the Interdisciplinary Institute for the Internet in Barcelona (IN3/UOC), she returned to IS-UP in April 2026 as a postdoctoral fellow working on the European project TrueFoods: Transforming the Food System (FutureFood/0008/2024).
