A new book has just come out from the IS-UP Books publishing line, published by the Institute of Sociology of the University of Porto and U.Porto Press.
Bourdieu and His Books: Practical Exercises is a work coordinated by Virgílio Borges Pereira and is the result of a cycle of debates dedicated to the sociological work of Pierre Bourdieu, held for over a year on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of his death at the Institute of Sociology of the University of Porto.
Favoring the fundamental reference constituted by the books, of different formats and scope, written by Pierre Bourdieu throughout his extensive and intense sociological life, Bourdieu and His Books: Practical Reading Exercises discusses ten of his titles based on twenty contributions. These contributions include, in addition to writings by Pierre Bourdieu himself, texts by Annick Prieur, Carla Aurélia de Almeida, Cláudia Marisa Oliveira, Diogo Ramada Curto, Ester Gomes da Silva, Fernando Luís Machado, Franck Poupeau, Frédéric Lebaron, Inês Brasão, João Queirós, João Teixeira Lopes, José Madureira Pinto, Loïc Wacquant, Nuno Domingos, Pedro Abrantes, Virgílio Borges Pereira and Yasmine Siblot.
