Description

This is a thematic dossier titled “How much space—both physical and symbolic—do women occupy in cities?”—Reflections from the TransFemina: Intersectional Landscapes project, organized by artists and cultural mediators Maria João Mota (PELE) and Sara Jorge (PELE).This issue features six articles in Portuguese, English, and Spanish by authors who share their work in research, mediation, and socio-artistic intervention from a feminist perspective rooted in the urban phenomena of the three Southern European cities where they work—Porto (Portugal), Modena (Italy), and Barcelona (Spain). This special issue of our journal is, thus, an invitation to reflection and action, based on a transnational approach to social reality, exploring the multiple ways in which women and other marginalized identities experience, occupy, and transform cities.
