On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of Pierre Bourdieu's death, the Institute of Sociology of the University of Porto (ISUP) has an ongoing cycle of debates dedicated to the analysis of his work. As part of this cycle, on January 23, 2023, at 6:30 p.m., at the Casa dos Livros/Centro de Estudos da Cultura em Portugal of the University of Porto, with online transmission, the Portuguese edition of Invitation to Reflective Sociology, by Pierre Bourdieu and Loïc Wacquant, published by U.Porto Press, will be presented.

The launch session will be chaired by the Director of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto, Professor Fernanda Ribeiro, and will feature interventions by José Madureira Pinto (FEP-UP and FLUP/ISUP), as presenter, by Virgílio Borges Pereira (FLUP and ISUP), as translator of the work, and a dialogue, via zoom, with Loïc Wacquant (University of California – Berkeley and CSE-Paris).
