"Letter to D." evades classification. An intimate writing, it is also a self-reflective essay and the testimony, almost journalistic, of an intellectual journey. It is also the last book by André Gorz, a philosopher and sociologist who was born precisely 100 years ago, on February 9, 1923. Marking this date, we will take this last text of his as a pretext for knowing the peculiar figure of Gorz. We will do so from the story of love, companionship and militancy that united him to Dorine, a decisive presence in the construction of his work. But broadening the conversation to an approach to a trajectory that went through existentialist Marxism and the New Left, the critique of the capitalist mode of production and the labor category, the analysis of metamorphoses in the class structure and radical political ecology. Gorz inspired currents of thought and intervention experiences and some of his theses prompted fierce criticism. The conversation we will have, which takes his love story as a starting point, will invite the recognition of his journey and his intellectual contribution, the identification of some of the criticisms that have been addressed to him and the dialogue with one and the other.
