LOPES, João Teixeira (2023), Elas. Percursos inesperados de jovens mulheres das classes populares, Lisboa, Tinta da China. ISBN: 978‑989‑671‑736-0
Abstract: Elas is a book about young women from the lower classes who have achieved great academic success at university. Starting from their life narratives, crossing past, present and anticipation of the future, it covers areas such as childhood and family; schooling; sociability; intimacy, love and sexuality; leisure and cultural practices; attitudes towards class and gender inequalities, and the relationship with religion and politics.
An exercise in sociology close to the ground, this study can be read in various ways: through the stories told in the first person and the objects chosen by the interviewees or through the sociologist's gaze, in his attempt to approach the social structures of a country without forgetting the singularities of lives and people.
