We're excited to announce the 8th KISMIF International Conference taking place in Porto, Portugal.

DIY Cultures, Global Uncertainty and Critical Imagination from July 8-11 across multiple venues in Porto.

KISMIF 2026 explores DIY cultures as laboratories of social innovation in times of global crisis—from artivism and civic imagination to feminist makerspaces, environmental practices, and grassroots resistance. 

We welcome submissions from researchers, academics, activists, and artists working in sociology, anthropology, history, cultural economics, cultural studies, geography, philosophy, urban planning, media and cognate disciplines such as design, illustration, popular music, film, visual and performing arts.

You can submit paper presentations (approximately 250 words), artistic performance-based presentations (maximum 15 minutes) until March 15, 2026 at www.kismifconference.com.
