Nerea Domínguez Sanisidro graduated in Sociology in 2021 and holds a Master's Degree in Advanced Methods of Research and Innovation in Social Analysis (2023) from the University of A Coruña. She is a member of the ESOMI research group (Research Team on Societies in Movement) and an FPI (Programme for the Training of Research Personnel) research fellow attached to the project “Money in Transformation: Monetary Attitudes, Behaviours and Processes of Financial Exclusion” at UDC (University of A Coruña). She is currently pursuing her PhD research, focusing on models of participation in the cryptocurrency market among young people in Spain from a qualitative perspective.

Sobre o Fim de Tarde...This session is based on my ongoing doctoral research that aims to examine the cryptocurrency investment as part of the broader process of the financialization of everyday life in Spain. Financialization refers to the growing influence of financial markets, institutions, and logics not only in the economy but also in daily social practices. The expansion of financial products, digital technologies, and Fintech services has increased citizens’ participation in financial markets while also normalizing financial risk and indebtedness. Within this context, cryptocurrencies have emerged as a prominent phenomenon, attracting growing attention from individuals, corporations, and governments. Although Bitcoin was originally conceived as a decentralized alternative to traditional finance, it has evolved into a speculative financial asset. The project seeks to identify the social, economic, and cultural factors that shape different models of participation in the cryptocurrency market among citizens, with a particular focus on understanding these dynamics within the Spanish context.
